Biography

George Harrison Shires was born about 1862. He may have been the son of George W. Shires and Belveretta Bradley.[1] He appears to have married to Etta Watters at about the age of 18.[2][3] They may have had two sons before he married Elizabeth Frazer in 1883.[4][5][6] After her death in 1914, he had married Ida (Harris) Brown by 1920,[7][3] but they had divorced by 1940.[8] He passed away in 1959.[9][10][11]

Research Notes

Some descendants believe he was the son of George W. Shires.[12][13][14][15][16] The record of George's son being born in Van Zandt County in 1882 may support this theory.[2]

Many online trees may list the wrong parents for him. It seems unlikely that the William Henry Shires from Grayson County would have had one son named George Harrison and another named George Peter,[17]
