"BUTCH" SHOCKEY, 73, of 8769 Goods Dam Road, Waynesboro, died unexpectedly Monday morning, April 13, 2015, in his home. Born May 26, 1941 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Delbert R. and Abigail (Newcomer) Shockey. Butch graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1959. He and his wife of over 52 years, Devora K. "Deb" Shockey, were married on August 22, 1962 in Winchester, VA. Butch worked for Landis Tool Company, the State of Pennsylvania, and CenturyLink. He retired in 2001. He was a member of the Rouzerville Fish and Game and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms, and being outdoors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Needy of Waynesboro, Brenda Marotte and her husband, Chris of Chambersburg, and Kimberly Shockey of Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Weddle of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. David Rawley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the funeral home. Born Aug. 4, 1915, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jesse Galen and Albie Good Newcomer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert R. Shockey, in 1966. They were married March 31, 1940. She was a 1931 graduate of Washington Township High School and also attended Waynesboro High School. She attended Thompson Business School in York, Pa. and graduated from Waynesboro Business School. Prior to retiring in 1975, she worked as a teller and bookkeeper for Citizen's National Bank of Waynesboro for 20 years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro. She was a member of National AAPP. She is survived by two children, Delbert C. Shockey of Waynesboro and Darlene Weddle of Waynesboro; one sister, Mildred Wetzel of Shippensburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Christian G. Newcomer and Robert G. Newcomer. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
