BIOGRAPHY

Born:
Barnabas born the 17th of March 1695/6 [of William Shirtlif & of Suzannah Shirtlef his wife] in Plymouth, Mass.[1]

Married:
Barnabas SHURTLEFF of Plympton & Jemima ADAMS married March 16th 1726/7[2]

Died:
Barnabas Esq., Capt. [h. Jemima], May 18, 1759, in 64th y. G. R.1. in Carver, Mass.[1]

Buried: Lakenham Cemetery North Carver Cemetery, Carver, MA[3]

Mr. Shurtleff was captain of a military company and a justice of the peace. He died with the measles.[4]

Plympton HR 1750; selectman 1735-38; moderator 1736, 37, 39; JP 1755; capt.; M Jemima Adams (1707- 1773) in 1727, 9 ch; farmer; will. Very good estate. Three committees, a below-average workload.[5]

Probate

The will of Barnabas Shurtleff of Plympton was dated 10 May 1759 and proved on 4 June 1759 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Jemima, his four daughters, Susanna Atwood, Jemima, Elizabeth, and Molly, and his two sons, Francis and Barnabas.[6]

His inventory was taken on 21 June 1759 in Plympton.[7]

In 1759, his real estate was divided between his widow, Jemima, and his two sons, Francis and Barnabas.[8]
