Lena Sigler was born 7 Jun 1861 in Randolph Twp, New Jersey to Jacob Sigler and Margaret Vanderhoof when her father was 67 and her mother was 21. [1] It appears she was named after her father's late first wife, Lenah Shafer.
In 1870-80, at age 8-18, Lena lived with her eldest half-sister, Mary V Sigler-Fluke, 42 years older than her; Mary's husband, John Fluke, and her elder nephews, Jacob (12 years older) and John (7-9 years older) in Byram, Sussex, New Jersey, [2][3] We do not know where she resided prior to the age of 8, but it is assumed she was sent to live with her eldest half sister, who was 42 years her senior, after her birth to be raised outside of Jacob's home. The reason for this is unknown to us.
She married John Taylor about 1880. They made their home in Dover, New Jersey and had children: [4]
Lena married William N. Beers in 1892. They lieved in Dover, Randolph Twp, NJ and had chidlren:
George Harrison Beers (1893-1968)
Olive L. (1895-1954)
Lena died 21 Jun 1926 in Morristown, Morris, New Jersey. She is said to have been buried at First Presbyterian Church in Rockaway, NJ, alongside William Beers, but I do not yet have a source to confirm this.
