Emanuel Slade was born in Lambeth, Surrey, England on 28 December, 1823[1] He was the son of Daniel Slade and Sarah Euins.
At the time of the 1841 England and Wales Census, Daniel, Sarah, Emanuel, John, Charles, Mary, James, Sarah, and Benjamin Slade were listed as living in St Mary Lambeth, Surrey[2].
Emanuel married Ann Batchelor in Kennington, Surrey on 5 July 1846[3].
At the time of the 1851 England and Wales Census, Dannel, Sarah, Emmanuel, Rachael, James, Sarah, and Benjamen Slade were listed as living in Clapham, Surrey, along with Daniel's grand-daughter, Mary Ann Slade[4]. In the 1851 census, Emanuel was listed as a widower, so apparently Ann had died by the time of the census.At the time of the census, Emanuel's occupation was listed as ""Jobbing Gardener".
On 6 June, 1852, Emanuel married Charlotte Clark in St. Mary's, Lambeth[5]. Charlotte may have been a widow at this time, because her father's name is listed as Simon Allen.
Emanuel, Charlotte, Charlotte, and Marianne Slade were listed as passengers on the Hydaspes, which sailed from Plymouth, England on August 26, 1852, and arrived in Sydney in the Colony of New South Wales, on December 17, 1852[6]. On the passenger list, Emanuel's occupation was listed a "Gardener".
Emanuel died of influenza, apparently in Sydney, on June 20, 1860[7].
His wife Charlotte died in Wellington, New South Wales, on March 17, 1888[8].
