Biography
Charles Slade was christened in Lambeth, Surrey, England on 9 October, 1831[1] He was the son of Daniel Slade and Sarah Euins.
At the time of the 1841 England and Wales Census, Daniel, Sarah, Emanuel, John, Charles, Mary, James, Sarah, and Benjamin Slade were listed as living in St Mary Lambeth, Surrey, along with Daniel's grand-daughter, Mary Ann Slade[2].
Sarah, Charles, Mary Anne, James, Sarah, and Benjamin Slade were listed as passengers on the Hydaspes, which sailed from Plymouth, England on August 26, 1852, and arrived in Sydney in the Colony of New South Wales, on December 17, 1852[3]. On the passenger list, Charles' occupation is listed as "Gardener".
Charles married Mary Anne Stote in Sydney, New South Wales on 3 October 1853[4].
