Sarah, b. at Saybrook, Aug,1647, according to the Norwich town records,[1] or perhaps 26 Aug 1656, according to the Saybrook Vital records;[2] m. Dec. 1668, Thomas Sluman, Norwich, and had six children. He died in 1683, and she afterwards m. April 8, 1686, Dr. Solomon Tracy, of Norwich, by whom she had one son. She d. Aug. 29, 1730. Dr. T. died July 9, 1732.
The record of Thomas' older children was entered into the Norwich record, after the fact, giving weight to 1656, however if born in 1656 she would have been only 12 when she married in 1668. Further if you look at the public records published separately from the Barbour Collection, [3] Sarah is placed in the correct position for 1647 although it says 1656.
Sarah Bliss was born August 26, 1647, in Saybrook in the Colony of Connecticut. She is the daughter of Thomas Bliss and Elizabeth Birchard.[4]
