Marriage

Peter Hübner is afkomstig van Hamburg, Duitsland. Hy arriveer in 1693 aan die Kaap as 'n soldaat in diens van die VOC. Hy word ook in dieselfde jaar 'n vryburger. Hy boer op die plaas Honswyk, Paarl. Peter word op 1 Desember 1698 skuldig bevind daaraan dat hy handel gedryf het met die Hottentotte 'over de Berg'. Hy word gevonnis tot 'n geseling en verbanning uit die Kaap. Daar is ook op sy eiendom beslag gelê; en dit is per publieke veiling verkoop. Sy is 'n tweede keer getroud in Stellenbosch op 4 Januarie 1705 met Jacob Potje. Jacob Potje is afkomstig van Moscroon of Moescroen, Vlaandere, België;. Hy werk in 1702 as kneg by Izak Schrjver. Hy is 'n tweede keer getroud in Stellenbosch op 15 April 1714 met Anna Lowisz. [3]

der goederen naergelaten en met 'er dood ontruijmt bij wijlen Catharina potgieter ten voordeele van haer naergelatene Man Jacob potje ter eenre, en desselfs vier minderjarige kinderen als harmanus Eppenaer, Mattheus en frederik Eppenaer (alle drie verwekt in voorig huijwelijk bij haer overleeden eerste Man pieter Eppenaer Zalr.) en Anthonij potje geprocreeert bij voorne. Jacob potje ter andere zijde'. Ten tye van haar dood besit hulle die volgende eiendom: 'Een stuk Lands geleegen onder 't district van drakenstijn gewaerdeert op f 800'. Sy is getroud c 1694 met Peter Hübner. [3]

The original register is now housed in the Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerkargief, Noordwal-Wes, Stellenbosch, as G1 1/1. The transcription was originally made in 2006 by Richard Ball. Corrections were received from Delia Robertson and Alwyn Smit and Corney Keller had now completely revised and amended the original transcript (February 2012).
