The "falls" of the Delaware River is not a dramatic waterfall but, rather, the rapids that mark the highest navigable point on the river. The names of Fallsington and Falls Township derive from it.[8]

Falls Monthly Meeting. Bucks County, PA reported on May 2,1711 that John married Sarah Scott. Sarah was born July 23,1690 in Yorkshire, England.

The births of John And Sarah (Scott) Smith's children (from 1712 to 1730) were recorded in Falls Monthly Meeting, Bucks County, PA. About 1745 in Buckingham MM, John was said to be formerly of Cold Spring, near Bristol. John died after 1753, in Plumstead Twp, Bucks, Pennsylvania, as he signed marriage certificates of two of his sons in 1752 at Buckingham MM. Sarah died Dec 2,1776 in Plumstead.

The children of John and Sarah (Scott) Smith were:

  1. Ann born 1712
  2. John Smith born 1715 (married Mary Stradling)
  3. Joseph born 1717;
  4. Robert born 1719;

  6. Henry born 1724 (married Alice Hill Jr.),1769 to Fairfax MM,VA;
  7. Thomas b 1730 (m Sarah Cowgill).

The Bucks County Courthouse, established in 1663, is said to have been located in Fallsington until it was moved to Bristol in 1705. The first meetings of the Religious Society of Friends were held in the home of William Biles on Biles Island. Falls Monthly Meeting found a site for the first brick meetinghouse built in Fallsington, about 1690, on 6 acres (0.024 km2) of land that had been donated by Samuel Burgess. Also in 1690, Thomas Janney donated 72 acres (0.29 km2) of land to be used as the Quaker burial grounds for Falls Monthly Meeting. William Penn donated a tract of 120 acres (0.49 km2), for a Falls commons.[9]
