Frances Cyrus, 100 acres land grant, Big Sandy [1]
DEED: Cabell County, Virginia, 2 Apr 1814. Francis Siers (female) to Thomas Siers, tract for $40. Wit. Alexander Hazlett, Alexander Siers, Robert Rutherford.
DEED: Cabell County, Virginia, 19 Apr 1817, indenture: Thomas Syrus & wife Jane to John Keezer, 100a on Price's Creek, left to Thomas by mother Frances Syrus. This suggests that Frances died sometime between the date of the 1814 deed and this indenture of 1817. However, if this were true, who is the Francis Syrus (female) in the 1820 Cabell County census. [2]
Death: Research of Ben Cyrus, Jr. Francis is believed to have come to Wayne Co. from Stokes Co., NC following her husband's death. She is listed as a Head of Household in the 1820 Federal Census of Cabell Co., VA, but not thereafter. Whether or not she died in Cabell Co. and is buried there is undetermined. Some say she is buried in the Old Cyrus Cemetery established on the old Abraham Cyrus farm (on a portion that became the Hatten farm). Others say she returned to Stokes Co., NC and is buried there with her husband.
