Emerson Smith of Alstead, New Hampshire, made his will on 22 Apr 1828. He name his wife, Abigail Smith; his sons, Samuel Smith, Jesse Smith, Ralph E. Smith, and Joel Smith; the children of his son John Smith, deceased; the children of his daughter, Hannah Wills, deceased, Wills Taylor and Benjamin Taylor; the children of his daughter Rebeccah Evans, deceased; and the children of his son David Smith, deceased. He named his son Ralph E. Smith as the executor of the will.[3]
The gravestone of Emerson Smith at the Slade Cemetery in Alstead, New Hampshire, says that he died on 27 Apr 1828 in the 85th year of his age.[4][5]
