Biography
William C. Soper was born about 1827 in Indiana.[1] He was the son of Polly Soper (maiden name Unknown), born in Vermont.[1][2] His father (name unknown) was born in Connecticut.[3]
William married Rachel Griffith on May 26, 1854 in Jennings County, Indiana.[4][5] The marriage license was issued on May 25, 1854.[4] Rachel and William had two known children, Oscar A. Soper born about 1856 and Mary Soper born about 1857.[2][6] Sometime after the 1870 census, the family moved to Indianapolis, where they are found in the 1880 census.[7]
William is found in the 1900 census as a widower (see notes on the census, below).[3] He probably died in January 1908.[8]
William is possibly buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis (Marion County), Indiana.[9]
