Biography
Alice was born in 1878 at Gresford, New South Wales, Australia to Dora Rose. She was the older of twin daughters.[1] In 1879 her mother married Thomas Soper. It is not known whether or not Thomas is her biological father. Regardless, Alice went by the surname of Soper until her marriage. Both names are shown on the Marriage Index.[2]
She married Ernest "Monty" Patfield on 17th January 1899 at Paterson, New South Wales.[3] They had eight children together, two of whom passed away in infancy.
Alice was ill for a considerable time. Monty filed for bankruptcy in 1907, citing his wife's illness and the need to employ a servant as the cause of the finanial situation. Alice passed away on 6th June 1916 in Maitland Hospital, New South Wales.[4]
