This project will catalog and document all burials in Merchant Cemetery, located in rural Smith County, Mississippi. History

Unknown who operates and maintains this cemetery. Cemetery has about 700 burials. As of Jan 25, 2016 Findagrave lists 710 graves with 79% photographed. ^[1]

Cemetery is divided by a driveway that can be entered from either Smith County Road 503 (west side) or Smith County Road 503-D (north side). The Smith County Genealogical Society published a cemetery book which included this cemetery with the location of each grave noted as either north side or south side of this driveway. Then within these two areas each grave was assigned a row number. I have included these row numbers as it will help others in locating graves. In the table of interments the location will be either N-nn or S-nn where N means north of the driveway and S means south of the driveway, then nn will be the row number. Any burials after 2008, the row needs to be determined. Also some were listed as unknown burials which I have denoted with either ?-?? or U-00
