Richard Jackson Spencer was born to Enoch and Abigail (Denton) Spencer on April 25th, 1839 in Kentucky. In the 1850 Census, he is listed as residing with his family in Henderson County, Kentucky.[1] In 1860, he was living with his family in Cairo, Henderson County.[2] He was a lifelong farmer.
On July 16th, 1862, he married Eliza Edgar Royster in Henderson County. They had seven children together, including an infant son who died young.[3][4] In the 1870 Census, he is listed as residing with his family in Cairo.[5] By 1880, he and his family were living in Robards, Henderson County.[6]
He lost his wife in 1888, and he married Elizabeth Katherine Schaeffer on September 24th, 1891 in Henderson County. They had two children together.[7] In the 1900 Census, he is listed as residing with his family in Henderson County.[8]
Richard passed away on March 31st, 1906, likely in Henderson County, and was buried at Spencer Cemetery in Henderson County.[9]
