Biography

Jacobus Johannes Spies was born on March 24, 1758 in de Caep de Goede Hoop, son of Johannes Ulrich Spies (1730–~1768) and Anna Beukes (<1719–~1809).

Jacobus (30) married Margaretha Johanna Kleynhans (18) (born before September 2, 1770 in Paarl, Cabo de Goede Hoop, ; daughter of Theodorus Ernst Kleinhans and Maria Sophia (Volschenk) Kleijnhans) on September 28, 1788 in de Caep de Goede Hoop (Cape Town), Dutch Cape Colony [South Africa].

Their daughter was Margaretha Maria Spies (~1789–<1825).

Jacobus (33) married Susanna Maria de Jager (15) (born before November 19, 1775 in distr. Swellendam, Cabo de Goede Hoop; daughter of Lodewyk de Jager and Susanna Maria (Cronje) Potgieter) on June 5, 1791.

Their children were:

Jacobus died on April 8, 1837 in Swellendam, Cape Colony, South Africa, aged 79.[1]

Johannes died in 1837.[2]
