Ensign Nathan Stanton served with 8th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.

Nathan Stanton, born 15 Dec 1749 at Stonington, Connecticut, was the seventh child of Anna Wheeler & Joseph Stanton of Stonington, Connecticut.

He married 25 Dec 1777 at Stonington, Connecticut, Anna Stanton (3rd cousins). They had 10 children, including these who died in infancy or childhood:

  • Anna Stanton, b. 8 May 1780
  • Daniel Stanton, b. 17 May 1781; d. 27 Aug 1783
  • Amos Stanton, b. 11 Feb 1783; d. 23 Aug 1783
  • Elizabeth Stanton, b. 26 Apr 1791; d. 2 Oct 1791
  • Hiram Stanton, b. 26 Feb 1796; d. 9 Mar 1797

This family lived in Stonington until 1793, when they moved to Florida, NY.

Nathan entered the service Sept. 8, 1776, as Ensign in Capt. Wm. Stanton's Co. of the 8th Regt. of Connecticut Militia; marched to New York; discharged Nov. 17, 1776; re-enlisted Aug. 6, 1780, as Corporal and Company Clerk in the same command. [1]

Nathan Stanton died 26 Sep 1835 at Syracuse, New York.
