Biography
James Stewart was born in 1859 in Lawrence, Kentucky, United States. He was the son of Mitchell Stewart and Cynthia Meade. [1][2]
In the 1870 census James (age 11) was living with his father Mitchell (age 36, farmer), mother Cynthia (age 24), and four siblings: Mary, Bell, Joseph, and Malinda in Lawrence, Kentucky, United States.[3]
In the 1880 census James (age 20, single), Laborer, was living with his father Mitchel Stewart (age 43), mother Synthia (age 38), siblings Mary A, Bell, Joseph, Malinda, John, Henry, Ema and Matilda Stewart, and grandmother Malinda Macelvaine (age 58), in Lawrence, Kentucky, United States.[4]
James married Claradore Gertrude Johnson September, 1880 in Lawrence, Kentucky.[5][6] They had about eight children:

- Florence M Stewart, 1886-1976
- Cleveland Stewart, 1887-1922
- Mary Ann Stewart, 1888-1970
- Edward Stewart, 1891
- Pacilla Stewart, 1893
- Lucille Stewart, 1895
- Arnold McClure Stewart, 1895-1949
In the 1900 census James (age 41, farmer) was living with his wife Claradore (age 35, born W Virginia), and children: Myrtie, Florence, Cleveland (farm laborer), Mary, Edward, Pacilla and Arnoldas in Magisterial District 2, Lawrence, Kentucky, United States. They had been married for twenty years. His wife Claradore had birthed seven children; seven were living.[7]
In the 1910 census James (age 51) was living with his wife Claradere (age 46), children Cleveland, Edward, Celia, and Arnoldas in District 7, Lawrence, Kentucky, United States.[8]
He passed away in 1916 in Lawrence, Kentucky, United States.[1]
