John was born in 1776 at Botetourt County, Virginia, USA, the son of Mary C Stover.^[1]
He married Sarah Nolan, probably before 1805.^[2]
At 86, on 7 May 1864, he died at Andersonville, Sumter County, Georgia, and was buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery, site 937.^[3][4]
