Frances Stribling was born on July 15, 1756, in Cherokee, South Carolina, her father, Thomas, was 26, and her mother, Nancy, was 22. She married William Haynie Buchanan in 1774 in Pendleton, South Carolina. They had 12 children in 102 years. She died on September 14, 1818, at the age of 62, and was buried in Pulaski, Tennessee.
