Sarah (Sally) Strickland was born about 1801 in Virginia, probably in Amherst County. She was the daughter of Samuel C. Stricklin and Nancy Tuley. This is partially supported by her parent's marriage in January 1801 in Amherst County, Virginia, and her 1860 census.
Sally married John McClain on 8 October 1818 in Madison County, Kentucky.[1]
