The book also includes the statement "Henry Stringfellow removed from Newberry to Alabama and there died, leaving three children, Frances, William and Thornton, him surviving." 3. We know that this Henry's brother, William, moved to Chester District from Virginia. There are many records in Chester District concerning William and his descendants. 4. Henry's son, Thornton's, birth state is given as South Carolina and his age as 41 in the 1850 Federal Census. This would indicate that this Henry was in South Carolina in 1809. The other two children were listed as having been born in Virginia on that census.

2.WILLIAM2 STRINGFELLOW (WILLIAM1) was born 1732 in King George County, Virginia, and died March 18, 1814 in Barnwell District, South Carolina. He married REBECCA MARTIN in Franklin County, North Carolina. She was born Abt. 1740 in King George County, Virginia, and died Aft. 1820 in Barnwell District, South Carolina. Notes for WILLIAM STRINGFELLOW: 1. William Stringfellow's will is on record in Barnwell County, South Carolina. It is dated September 15, 1812, but was executed in 1814. 2. There are land records in Virginia and North Carolina that indicate that William's wife was named Mary. At this point in time I have not been able to determine if William had been married prior to marrying Rebecca. It is just as likely that Rebecca was also named Mary and that she used either name at various times. Notes for REBECCA MARTIN: 1. Rebecca Stringfellow is named in the will of her husband, William Stringfellow, dated September 15, 1812, on record in Barnwell County, South Carolina. 2. Rebecca Stringfellow was enumerated on the 1820 Federal Census of Barnwell District, South Carolina. 3. Rebecca Stringfellow's first or middle name may have been Mary.

Children of WILLIAM STRINGFELLOW and REBECCA MARTIN are: i. WILLIAM3 STRINGFELLOW, b. 1755, King George County, Virginia; d. January 1825, Richmond County, North Carolina. Notes for WILLIAM STRINGFELLOW: 1. William Stringfellow, Jr. never married. 2. The will of William Stringfellow, Jr. is on record in Richmond County, North Carolina. Henry Stringfellow testified in Barnwell Court during the suit brought by the children of his brother, Richard Stringfellow, against Richard's third and common-law wife, Catherine Scott. The Jury's verdict was declared June 20,1836. Note: Henry Stringfellow was not enumerated in the 1840 census of Barnwell District, South Carolina and I have not been able to find any records on him after 1836. Robert and Catherine Stigler Stringfellow were Frank Stringfellow's great grandparents. The book is entitled "Stringfellow of the Fourth", and was published in 1960. I am fortunate enough to own a copy, and it is an excellent read. Mr. Brown did very thorough research and made contact with severaldescendants of Robert Stringfellow as well as Stringfellow researchers during his preparations for writing the book. Copies of his notes were graciously provided to me by Mr. Brown's daughter, Barbara. Most importantly, at least from my own point of view, is that Mr. Brown's research and my own research agree. Also, Mr. Brown's notes provided some information on at least two generations of Robert's descendants that I did not have. Thanks again, Barbara.
