William Stuart was born on Little Island, West Isles Parish, New Brunswick, 23 July 1785, the son of William Stuart and his wife, Elizabeth Frost "Betty" Ingersoll;

He married, reportedly at Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, 11 Aug 1812, Prudence Pendleton, as her first husband;

They were the parents of eight children, listed in Brian Pendleton and his Descendants.

Following his untimely death, Prudence married (2) Abel Brooks of Robbinston, Maine.
