Biography

Sargent Ingersoll Stuart was born in 1776, reportedly in Gloucester, Massachusetts, the son of William Stuart and Elizabeth Frost "Betty" Ingersoll; [1] died before 24 Mar 1814, when his widow married his younger brother, Simon. [2] [1]

He married, probably at Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, 1 Jan 1797, Dorcas Pendleton, [1] [3] [4] as her first husband.

Eleven children, listed in Brian Pendleton and His Descendants, p. 353.

Reference Notes

There is a census record from 1851 that lists Sargent Stuart and wife Dorcas. [5] The birth year generally agrees with the original profile, but the 1814 marriage between Simeon Stuart and Dorcas Pendleton is unexplained. Also, it's unclear why some of Sargent's children would be given the last name of Pendleton.
