Biography

Julia was born on February 13, 1804, in Bethel, Maine. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Swan and Mehitable Colby.^[1][2] Her mother was a native of Sutton, Massachusetts.^[3]

She married Ransom Twitchell on August 26, 1824, in Bethel, Maine.^[4][5] They removed to Milan, New Hampshire, likely in the year 1824, as her husband's family is known to have came to Milan in that year, and her husband paid a tax on 100 acres of unimproved land in 1825.^[6] They lived in Milan for many years.^[7][8] They later went to Dummer, New Hampshire, which borders Milan.^[9][10]

Julia died on November 7, 1879, in Dummer.^[2] She is buried in Gates Cemetery in Dummer.^[12]
