Biography

Alkia Lee Tackett was born 23 March 1921 in Greenup County, Kentucky.^[1] Although her name is Alkia on the birth record her mother always called her Alkilee.

Alkia's married name is found spelled both Farley and Fraley. When she married the name was Farley but when she died it was Fraley. According to her granddaughter the correct surname spelling is Fraley.

In 1930 Alkia was 9 years old and resided with her parents in Greenup County, Kentucky.^[2]

Alkia married Farris Allen Farley, son of Adam and Cynthia Farley, on 24 May 1941 in Lawrence County, Ohio. ^[3] Their children were: Her children: Wanda Lee Fraley Fette Bryant, Deloris Ann Fraley Snyder, Sandra Gail Fraley Moore Crystal Lynn Fraley Briscoe.

She died 21 September 2017 in Evansville, IN. ^[4]

4. ↑ Obituary: Alkia L. Tackett Fraley, 96, of Westwood, went to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the home of her granddaughter in Evansville, IN. Mrs. Fraley was born March 23, 1921 in Flatwoods, KY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Barber Tackett. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Farris Fraley, brothers Fred, Roscoe, Lawrence, Tom, Jr. Tackett, sisters Bertie Tackett, Emaline Baldridge, Goldie White, Hazel Culwell and three infant siblings Woodrow, Ivy and Mildred Tackett. Alkia attended the Community Tabernacle and was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and all whom had the pleasure to have known her. Survivors include her daughters Wanda Fette Bryant of Galax, VA, Delores (Kenny) Snider of Columbus, OH, Sandy Moore of Ashland, Crystal Briscoe of Ashland, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Chapel by Tom Jones. Burial will follow in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Visitation will be from 12-1 Monday at the funeral home.
