Biography

Margaret Talboys was the daughter of John Talboys^[1] and Katherine Gibthorpe. She was born in about 1446 (she was recorded as being 21 in 1467).^[2][3] Her father had property in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and her birth county is not known.

Margaret married John Ayscough.^[1][2][3] They had three children:

• William^[2][3]
• Edward^[2][3]
• Elizabeth, who married William Booth^[1][2][3]

Margaret's husband died in July 1491; she predeceased him.^[1].^[2][3]

Research Notes

Daughter's First Name

George Marshall's edition of the 1562-4 Lincolnshire Visitation gives her daughter the first name Margaret.^[4] So does the Harleian Society edition of Mundy's Middlesex pedigrees.^[5] Maddison's Lincolnshire Pedigrees calls her "Margaret (? Elizabeth)".^[6]
