Alice was born in 1880 in Smith County, KS. She moved with her family in 1886 to Logan County, KS in a covered wagon, taking 10 days to make the trip. THey settled on a homestead one mile southeast of Page City and lived there until sometime in the 1890's when they moved to Monument, KS. They purchased the Monument Hotel and her father operated it until about 1912. She met William Henry Linville while in Monument and they were married on October 2, 1902, after which they moved to Beloit, KS, where William owned a store and also ran a real estate business. Around 1904, they purchased the 11-13-36 section of land in Logan County. A large barn was built in 1906 and they allowed a family to live on the land and run the farm until 1911 when they moved there. She passed away in 1957.
