Alexander W. Tassie
Private funeral services for Alexander W. Tassie, 93, Chase Mills, were held Monday at 10 a.m. at his home with the Rev. B.J. Norris officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena. Arrangements were with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
Mr. Tassie died Friday (November 11, 1983) at 5:40 p.m. at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel; three sons, John, Gerald and Frank, all of Chase Mills; four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Muriel) Adams, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Love and Shirley Tassie, all of Massena, and Mrs. Amos (Norma) Phelix, East Syracuse; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by two sons, one daughter, one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Tassie was born in Burke, N.Y. March 22, 1890, son of Robert and Elizabeth Russell Tassie. He was married to Hazel M. Lavine Feb. 15, 1919 in the First Congregational Church, Massena, by Rev. Black.
Mr. Tassie was a self-employed carpenter.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Tassie was a member of the Massena American Legion and the First United Methodist Church.
