Suff., ob. 19 Edw. IV.

A John Attchurch was mayor of Winchester in 1459 & Ralph Attchurch in 1355.

The peerage of England. 3 vols.: FROM Sir James Hobart Knight Attorney general and of the Privy Council to Henry VII do the several branches of the Hobarts owe their principal rife yet the family was of genteel extraction in Norfolk for many generations before. John Hobart is a mentioned in deeds to be owner of lands at De la Tye in the said county, in 1389 his son Godfrey of the fame place is also mentioned, in 1407 and son John in 10 Henry VI who had issue Thomas Hobart of the Tye and Gedford street in the said county and deceasing in 1458, 37 Henry VI, left issue by his wife Eleanor daughter and heir of Robert At Church (by his wife Eleanor daughter and heir of John Taylor alias Amfrey of Kellesey). William his son and heir living in 1478.

An Essay Towards a Topographical History of the County of Norfolk: He was descended from an ancient family lords of Tye Hall in Essex John Hobart Esq of Tye Hall was living there in 13Hy and John his grandson in 1426 his son married daughter and heir of Atte church by whom he had Thomas Hobart of Tye Hall who by Eleanor his wife daughter and heiress of John Tayler alias Amfrey was father of James who was a younger son born at Monks Illey in Sujfolk student of the law at Lincoln's Inn and was reader therein Lent term 1447 his first wife was niece of Walter Lyhert Bishop of Norwich sister and heir of John Lyhert she died tans issue about the year 1470 King Henry VII in l48f made htm his attorney general was of his privy council and on the creation of Henry Prince of Wales in 1505 was knighted by Margery his 3d wife daughter of Peter Naunton Esq of Letheringham in Suffolk re lict of John Dorward Esq he had 2 sons Sir Walter the eldest of Hales hnW in Loddon and Miles who was lord of this town also a daughter Catherine Sir James died at a great age in the 13th year as I take it of King Henry VI II and was buried in the body or nave of the cathedral church of Norwich on the north side between theQth and 10th pillars in a chapel formerly inclosed as was Margery his widow who presented to this church in 1517 as by her will dated September 13 1517 proved October 24 1517
