Biography
Martin was born in 1838 in Knottingley, Yorkshire. He was the son of William Taylor and Elizabeth Hardcastle.

In 1841 and 1851, the family lived in Pontefract, Yorkshire.

In 1866, he married Caroline Wheeler in Newington, Surrey, England.
[4] They likely lived for a time in Newington, as that's where his older children were born.
In 1871, his young family of three children lived with his wife's family in Hackney, London

but moved to Camberwell by 1881.
