Adam was married at Wagga Wagga, NSW in 1870, to Margaret Brown Telford, daughter of Robert Telford of Yarrawonga Station, Yarrawonga, VIC who came to Australia from Sutherlandshire, Scotland in 1846. It is recorded that when a young girl, Margaret Telford was at Peechelbah Station when it was raided by Morgan, the bushranger, and she was compelled to play the piano for the outlaw on the evening before he was arrested.
