Proof that Samuel is the son of William Temple comes from a lease made by William to Samuel dated November 11, 1717. On the margin ins the notation "Temples Deed of Lease to his son" in the same handwriting. Elizabeth is believed to be a sister of Thomas Leath who married Ann Temple. Samuel's sister. At this time, he was already living on this property.

Evidently Elizabeth died shortly after the birth of Mary and Samuel married a second time, Frances Young. She was either a daughter of a sister of Joshua Young, son-in-law of Christopher Tatum.
