Olivier was born about 1733 in Chipoudy, Acadie. His parents are Pierre Thibodeau and Madeleine Cormier.[1][2]
He married Marie Bourg, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Bourg and Marie Thériot, on 20 October 1754 in Beauséjour. A contract was signed before notary Louis de Courville. [3][4]
In 1755 the young couple was residing at Le Lac (Aulac). No children were listed yet. [5]
They were deported to South Carolina in 1755 and settled in Saint-Grégoire-de Nicolet after 1763.[4]
Olivier died on 30 April 1776 and was buried the next day in Bécancour, Quebec[6] [7][8]
According to certain family trees, after Marie Bourg passed away, he married Marie Poirier, daughter of Joseph Poirier and Marie Madeleine Doiron, around 1761. It is another Olivier Thibodeau who married Marie Poirier. [9]
There are discrepancies concerning the date of death: [4]
The following sources give the date 30 Apr 1776 in Bécancour for Olivier.
This reference does not mention a date of death for him: Stephen A. White, Recensements de Beaubassin et des Trois Rivières de Chipoudie, de Memramcook et de Petcoudiac (1686-1755).
Others attribute this date to the other Olivier Thibodeau.
According to historian André-Carl Vachon, this couple has a son named Olivier who was a prisoner at Rivière Saint-Jean in 1763 and sought refuge in the Province of Québec in 1764, travelling with the family of Pierre Bergeron and Marguerite Bourg (cousin of Marie Bourg). [10]
PRDH also lists a son Olivier for this couple, married to Marie-Anne Cyr (no marriage record has been found). PRDH: Research Programme in Historical Demography (membership): Individu: 342304
However researchers Marcel Walter Landry and Karen Theriot Reader connect Olivier married to Marie-Anne Cyr to different parents: Olivier Thibodeau and Madeleine Melancon, without sources.
