Biography

Thomas Morgan Thomas was born on 3 Jul 1877 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. He was the fourth of eight children born to Martha Morgan and George W. Thomas.

Tom worked as a laborer in the coal mines and in the iron works. He married Grace Pearl Thompson in Wilkes-Barre on 28 Jan 1899. Rev. D. E. Edwards performed the wedding ceremony.^[1] Though the couple had no children of their own, they raised a family. After Grace's sister, Effie Miers, died in 1912, Tom and Grace raised her two sons as their own. They legally adopted the youngest child, Noel Miers Thomas.

Tom died from Brights Disease on 24 May 1933 at his home at 178 Andover Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. He was buried on 27 May 1933 in grave #39, row U, 2nd division, Grand Lawn, Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. When Grace died in 1953, she was buried with her second husband, George Richards. George had Tom's body removed from its original location on 30 Nov 1953 and reinterred in Maple Lawn, Lot #6 so he could be buried next to Grace.
