Biography
The son of Ulysses Towns and Ruby (Norman) Towns, Harry was born in Denmark Township in 1909.[1][2] In 1940, the family lived in Detroit, and Harry worked as a bench hand at a household parts manufacturing company.[3]
He registered for the draft when he was 30 years old, on October 16, 1940. His draft card indicated that he was 5'6" tall and 135 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a dark complexion. He stated that he worked for Kingston Detroit Company in Detroit.[4] He was drafted and enlisted on September 21, 1942. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army until September 24, 1945.[5]
His wife's name was "Lillian A."and, after the war, he returned to Michigan and worked as a sheet metal worker in Detroit.[6] He passed away at the age of 91 and is buried at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township, Michigan.[7]
