Biography
John was born 2 Feb 1694 at Westness in Rousay, Orkney,[1] son of William Traill 1st of Westness and his wife Barbara Balfour.[2]
He moved to Boston and became a prosperous merchant and businessman. He married a woman named Mary, and joined the Old South Church of Boston in 1735, joining several other Orkney and Scottish families.
John and Mary did not have children. John died intestate in 1749, and some of his property went to his nephew Robert Traill who married Mary Whipple.[1]
