Marcel Trudel was an academic known for his historical reviews of New France. From 1961 to 1965, Trudel served as the Associate General Editor of the Dictionary of Canadian Biography (DCB). He taught at Unversity Laval, Carlton University, and later, the University of Ottawa. He wrote 6 volumes of the History of New France series in collaboration with Quebec historian Guy Frégault. He was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada in 1971, and companion in 2008.
