Thomas was born on June 25, 1745 at St, George, Bermuda. [1]Em
He was the son of Henry Tucker and Ann Butterfield. [2]
1770 -- Thomas emigrated from Bermuda to Virginia. [3]
1770 -- Thomas graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, having studied medicine. [4]
1770s -- Thomas moved from Virginia to Charleston, South Carolina.
Thomas died on May 2, 1828 at Washington, D.C. [5][6]
An older more reliable book published in 1895 show that his mother is Nancy Butterfields and not Ann Butterfields. [7]
The same book notes Dr. Tucker as emigrating to Virginia in 1772, but then re-moved to South Caroline before the Revolution, in which he made himself prominent on the patriot side.
In 1778 he was elected a delegate to the Continental Congress after serving several years as a member of the Legislature.
In 1779, he was chosen to the First Congress, and re-elected for another term in 1791.
In 1794 he was made Washington United States treasurer, which office he held till his passing May 2, 1828 in Washington.[6]
