Biography

George Freelove TURNER was christened ^[1] 03 Dec 1801 in Wrangle, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Edward and Isabella Turner.

George grew up in Wrangle, Lincolnshire. He married Elizabeth Neal in 1823, and raised a large family. George immigrated to St. Maries, Iowa about 1850. Once established, his wife and 8 of 12 children also immigrated to Iowa by 1853. His wife Elizabeth died shortly after, leaving George to raise his children.

George remarried a German lady name Sophia ____, but he then died in July 1856 at the age of 54. Their extended family was left to raise the younger children.
