Mary was the daughter of William Tyler and Mary (Lothrop) Tyler, born in 1695 on 1 September (according to Jacobus) or 7 September (according to Davis in History of Wallingford) in Wallingford, Connecticut.
Francis Guitteau married Mary Tyler in Wallingford on 23 February 1714. In 1722, her father William Tyler gave the young couple some land in Wallingford, where they lived until some time between 1730 and 1733, when they removed to Woodbury, Connecticut, living in the section of town that later became the town of Bethlehem. Francis Guiteau died at Woodbury, Connecticut, on 2 September 1760. Mary Guiteau died at Woodbury on 11 August 1774.
