Rebecca was widowed and living in Arkansas with her younger children and next door to her eldest daughter by the time of the 1870 Census.
The family story is that this family was Cherokee, or part Cherokee, though, if they were, they were passing as "white". A photo of daughter Nancy Isabel, along with other family members, does suggest that they may have been at least part Cherokee.
The McKinney family, most who were born in South Carolina, did move to Chambers Co. AL and was living there in 1850 only to move back to Chester Co. SC by the 1860 Census.
