Goodwife Hale was buried 20th April 1628, Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, England. [1] Her children were born between 1608 and 1618, [1] which points to a birth date for Martha of about 1590, if she was about eighteen years old at the birth of her first child. (Strictly an estimate.)

I found that the Thomas Hale of Newbury, considered to be son of Thomas Hale of Watton at Stone, Hertford, is supposed to be the son of Joan Kirby of Little Munden. This would suggest that Thomas and John Hale of record in Watton-at-Stone, possibly brothers, married possibly sisters surnamed Kirby.
At this point in my reading of the sources, I don't think that is the case. It looks more like someone leaping to conclusions or more probably, conflating Thomas Hale brother of Martha Hale with Thomas Hale the son of Thomas Hale and Joan Kirby, and getting the surnames of the mothers conflated too. Maybe.
The profiles for Thomas Hale of Newbury and his mother Joan Kirby and father Thomas have interesting source refs. which I'm reading.
If Martha wife of John Hale could become Martha Unknown, and she could be added then to mother of her two sons, Samuel and Thomas, (who are currently appearing as half-siblings to Martha (Hale) Peck, when there is no suggestion that they were of a different mother). Or, we can source her surname Kirby and add her by that name - although from my reading so far there is no evidence that Joan Kirby (or any of her Kirby relatives) had a Martha Kirby.
Thank you.
