The funeral of Richard F. Uras, 57, of 272 East St., who was found dead on Wednesday in the Granville State Forest after a hunting trip, will be conducted on Monday morning at Tylunas Funeral Home and St. George's Church.
He was an insurance agent, union official, baseball coach, and Junior Chamber of Commerce booster.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday afternoon and evening.
Uras worked for 29 years as an insurance agent at John Hancock Insurance Co., where he was also a staff manager. He had also been a former vice president, union negotiator and office chairman for Local 122 of the International Workers Insurance Union.
He worked for the last four years at Boston Mutual Co., and served as a staff manager. He was also a former president and most recently a vice president of Local 122 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union at the company.
Born in Pittsfield, he lived for five years in North Adams. He lived most of his life in West Springfield, and was a 1952 graduate of Springfield's former Technical High School.
He was a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Springfield Junior Chamber of Commerce, and received its annual Man-of-the-Year award.
He coached Little League baseball in West Springfield for eight years.
He was also a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher for St. Anne's Church in West Springfield.
He moved to Chicopee four years ago, and was acommunicant of St. George's Church.
He was a former president of the Sherwood Manor Civic Association in Enfield, and a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drive.
He leaves his wife, Susan M. (Monette) Maxwell Uras; his mother, Josephine (Uras) Uras of Westfield;his parents, Ernest and Mary (Fiore) Brosseau, both of Pittsfield; a son, Richard F. Jr. of Leicester; a daughter, Lora L. Warren of West Springfield; two stepdaughters, Lynn A. and Jennifer L. Maxwell at home; a sister, Yolanda Wiles of Granville; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Marsha B. Kalman Uras of Chicopee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, 235 Chestnut St., Springfield.[5]
