Clara Ure was born on February 3, 1893 in Sandwich South Township, Essex, Ontario, Canada, daughter of David Ure (1854–1934) and Ellen Dixon (1858–1906).^[1]

In 1901, Clara (8) D was in the household of her father, David, in Essex (north/nord), Ontario. ^[2]

Clara (23) married John Nelson McKenzie (26) (born on December 16, 1889 in Windsor, Essex) in September, 1916.^{[3] [4]} Their children were:

• Eleanor McKenzie (1917– )
• Gladys McKenzie (~1919– )
• Helen Jessie McKenzie (1922– )

Clara (23) married John Nelson Mackenzie on September 6, 1916.^[5]

Clara died on August 10, 1972 in Essex, aged 79. She is commemorated at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Oldcastle, Essex County, Ontario.^[6]

Obituary

Sincere sympathy to the family of the late Clara Isabel (Ure) age 79 years, beloved wife of John Nelson MacKenzie, who passed away on Aug. 10th. Beloved mother of Elinor, Mrs. Douglas Watson, Marion, Mrs. Arthur Shuttleworth, both of Sandwich South, Gladys, Mrs. Ivan Grieves, Essex and Helen, Mrs. Archie Metier of Wheatley and 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, also a sister of Ray Ure, Hattie, Mrs. Wm. MacKenzie, both of Maidstone and Jennie, Mrs. Ernest Hibbard of Toronto. Four brothers and two sisters predeceased her. Rev. Gordon R. Geiger of Essex officiated at the Funeral and Graveside Services at Green-lawn Memorial Park. Published August, 1972.
