Peter was born on 30 Dec 1771 in Morris County, Roxbury, New Jersey. He was the son of Johannis Van Winkle and Naomi (Dickenson) Van Winkle.

He married Elizabeth Server in Springfield in Montgomery Co. Pa.^[1]

He died on 29 Jul 1840 in Springfield Township, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.^[2][3]
