Notes

My thoughts: In any case the marriage date of Thomas Tarpley and Elizabeth Vaughan remains highly unreliable, while not impossible, David's will was written on 17 February 1796 and I believe when it was written had much to do with Spencer Crawford's return from England after his studies there. Elizabeth's marriage would also have been timed so that her brother Spencer Crawford could be present for the wedding after his return from England. jdv

Will of David Vaughan names her as a daughter.

In an email from J. D. Vaughan on April 10,2018, he wrote:

. The date of the marriage is currently highly unreliable, the fact that Elizabeth Vaughan daughter of David and Winnefred married a Thomas Tarpley is reliable as she is mentioned in his will as Elizabeth Tarpley. John Tarpley married Elizabeth Smith* (Thos Tarpley " Elizabeth Vaughn (Nancy Tarpley " Burch Abernathy (Sally Tarpley " Thos Westmoreland (Sterling Tarpley " Lee P Pool

Dr. Joseph Bell Tarpley was the son of Sterling Tarpley, brother of Thomas Tarpley. The letter: From The Quarterly, Published by the Local History & Genealogical Society, Dallas, Texas, Volume XI, No. 3, September 1965, p. 77-78:

"Believe the Collier County from above is a misprint and Collin County would be correct. jdv"
