Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1750. It is said her father immigrated from England to South Carolina earlier in the 18th Century. Elizabeth was born in Fairfield, South Carolina. Her mother's name is Unknown.

She passed away in about 1802 after the birth of her last child: John Gresham Ayers in 1801.[1]

Family genealogies state she died in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama, but this is impossible as that region was still sovereign Native American Indian territory then. It did not open for American Settlement until after the War of 1812 and that is when Moses Ayers and family moved there, most-likely from South Carolina (some have him living in Georgia or Tennessee between 1800-1815 but this is not certain). It is possible that Moses Ayers Sr. had a 2nd marriage after 1802 to a younger woman (Keziah ??) and had children with her in Alabama. [2]
