Biography

Margaret J Walker was born in 1848 in Monroe County, Iowa the first child of Phobe Jane Noe and Edward T. Walker .

On 13 Feb 1868 she married the widower and Civil War veteran William Wright Brunt, son of Elizabeth Noe and John Brunt. Margaret and William had two children that died as infants and one daughter. William's son from his first marriage also lived with the family.

At this time there is no known connection between Phobe Noe and Elizabeth Noe. However, as both women were married in Rush County, Indiana, and subsequently moved to Mahaska County, Iowa, it is probable that these women have ancestors in common.

Margaret passed away on 6 Sep 1875 in Eddyville, Mahaska County, Iowa. She is buried in Hayden Chapel Cemetery, Pleasant Twp, Monroe, Iowa next to her parents.

1. ↑ Source: #S9 The Eddyville Tribune -- Eddyville, Iowa, Friday, July 18, 1902 Obituary The funeral services of the late W. W. Brunt were held from the home west of town, Saturday, July 12, 1902 at 10:30 A.M., Rev. J. Brown, of Batavia officiating. Afterward the remains were taken to Coalfield and put on the Iowa Central passenger train that arrives at 1:57 P.M. The remains were taken from the train here and interred in Highland Cemetery. This was necessary owing to the high water which made it impossible to drive to Eddyville. William Wright Brunt was born in Madison County, Indiana, on February 1, 1843, and died July 9, 1902, aged 59 years, 5 months, and 8 days. He was married three times; the first time to Miss Miriana Benedict, January, 1864; to this union was born one son, the late Dr. W. W. Brunt of this place. His first wife died in the spring of 1865. He then married Miss Margaret Walker in February 1868; to this union were born three children, two of them dying in infancy, and one Mrs. Snyder, lives in Illinois. This wife died in 1875. He was then married to Mrs. M. A. Walker, on March 15, 1877; to this union seven children were born; all of them whom with the wife survive him, and reside at the home west of town. Mr. Brunt was a soldier in the Civil War; a successful farmer, honest and upright, and had a large tract of fine land. Aside from his wife and children, many more distant relatives and numerous friends remain to mourn his sudden death.
