Biography
Polly Walker was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.
Mary Polly lived with her unmarried sisters in the cabin her grandfather built in the 1840's. Her father got the cabin when he came back from the civil war. Raised his 11 children, 7 girls, 4 boys. Of the girls only Sarah married. When John, who was widowed, died he left the cabin and property to his unmarried daughters who lived there till they died. The ladies raised livestock and vegetables and made there own clothes. [1]
Mary Polly passed away in 1945 and is buried in the Mattox Cemetery in Walden Creek, Sevier County, Tennessee.[2]
